Gordon Burns, George Burns and Mr Burns are all great Burns but by far the best Burns was the AGS Burns Night.
The final figures aren’t in but we hope the night will have raised in excess of £3000 for the school and the boys.
So, we wanted to say a big THANK YOU to everyone who came along and made it the success that it was. Here’s to the Toast to the Lassies, the reply by the Laddies, the Scottish piper, the Selkirk Grace (although the less said about the headmaster’s Scottish accent the better!), the addressing of the haggis, the whisky twirling, the delicious three course meal, the men wearing skirts, and the traditional Scottish dancing (that no one knew the moves to but it didn’t matter in the slightest).
A brilliant time was had by all, with many saying it was a great way to meet other AGS parents. We hope you had a wonderful time and that if you didn’t manage to make it this year that you will come to Burns Night 2019.
Finally, congratulations to Richard and Nicky Oakes who won the champagne hot air balloon ride.
Here is a taste of some of the events the PTA has put on over the last few years.
Year 7 Laser
This is a brilliant way for new boys to hang out with their new friends and make others by shooting them with lasers. A hugely popular event every year.
Art and Craft Fair
The AGS Art and Craft Fair - now in its 24th year - showcases around 80 local artists, displaying and selling their works over a weekend. The event kicks off with a preview night for VIPs and artists and then is opened up to the public. As well as paintings and sculpture exhibits, there is a Craft Fair running alongside the event. For more information, or if you would like to exhibit yourself or take a craft stall, please follow the show on our FaceBook link https://www.facebook.com/aylesburyartandcraft/

Curry & Quiz Night
It’s back by popular demand. The AGS Quiz and Curry Night!
The AGS Quiz and Curry Night is one of the fastest selling nights of the year and for good reason. Who doesn’t like answering questions like “what was the first Mister Men book?”, “which individual has won the most Oscars?”, and “can you name the world’s largest desert?”, while stuffing their face with delicious curry?
Secure your tickets by simply filling in the form QUIZ NIGHT FLYER 2018 and handing it in to the school office before the 19th of Feb, 2018. You can pay by Parent Pay or by cheque but act quickly to avoid disappointment.
Thanks so much,
Oh, and it’s Mr Tickle, Walt Disney and Antarctica, in case you were wondering.
Outdoor Laser Tag
On Sunday 18th March we will have our very first all age combat laser day at Sabotage Events near Swanbourne, between Milton Keynes and Winslow. As usual, we will have the site to ourselves.
Boys from all years, along with friends and family members, are welcome to play with M14, M16 and AK laser guns with a range of 200m. No mess, no goggles, no paint, but plenty of excitement!
Numbers will be limited to 96 players over two sessions, to be held in the morning and the afternoon.
To secure your place, please pay via parent pay. The cost is £22 per player and send the completed application form 2018 Sabotage Laser Consent Form to the school office or email it to firstname.lastname@example.org

RafflesThe PTA holds two major raffles each year - one during the Autumn term to be drawn at Christmas and one during the Summer Term to be drawn at the Fete. All parents are sent tickets via the boys so please do look out for them as they tend to get lost in bags. There are many prizes for each raffle with the first three printed on each ticket. If anybody has any unwanted christmas presents they wish to donate for any of our raffles - we are always happy to accept them
